We often tend to carry a lot of "stuff" on a tour thinking that they will come in handy.

But most of them just end up staying in our backpacks forever adding to the extra weight.

This makes brisk movement with our backpacks on, quite irksome.

To make the most of your trip, always travel light and carry only the things you will need and be weather proof!

In order to help you with that, we have created the perfect way to organise and pack the materials you will need into different categories and into your backpack!

For an 8 - 10 days’ tour, here is what you need and how you can pack them:

GETTING STARTED:

First things first. You need a backpack!

If you already have one, skip this part.

It is always advised to buy a bacpack (60L and above) which has full length vertical zipping (like in the image above) so that you can take out anything you want from it without disturbing other stuff and also because it becomes easier to arrange the things you are carrying.

The next thing you want to check for in your backpack is storng shoulder straps, chest and belly buckles, tiny pouches for quick and easy removal, ventilation for your back, padding and weather proof cover.

CATEGORISING YOUR LAGGAGE:

It is very important how you categorise your luggage.

Done the right way, it can save you a lot of time and energy.

here's how we do it:

Clothing and Footwear
Accessories and Electronics

Toiletries
Medication and Suppliments
Books, Diaries, Games and Hobby stuff

PACKING YOUR LAGGAGE:
The compactness and the size of your backpack decides the ease of your commuting.

Here are some hacks to use your backpack to the fullest.

Clothing:

a.T-shirts (Preferably cotton, 4)
b.Shorts (2)
c.Hiking pants (Light and breathable, 2)

d.Weatherproof Jacket

e.Inner wear (As required)

f.One pair of Floaters / Sandals
g.Swim-wear (quick dry/if required)
h.Poncho

The best way to pack your clothing is to roll the individual items into a cylinder and secure them with the help of rubber bands. This not only ensures that they occupy the least space possible but also makes it easier for you to pull them out easily. It also keeps the clothing wrinkle-free.

Accessories and Electronics:

a.Sun glasses
b.Swiss knife

c.Hat / Cap
d.Towel + Hanky

e.Water bottles (1L)
f.Mobile Phone + Charger

g.Camera + Charger

Keep all the electronic equipment inside a water proof cover / container. You can keep them in water proof pouches like these, or plastic cover, or zip lock covers which will be available in supermarkets

Toiletries and Medication

a.Body wash

b.Face wash

c.Tooth brush + Paste

d.Shampoo

e.Sun screen Lotion

f.Hand Sanitizer

g.Nail cutter

h.Personal medicines (For allergies / asthma etc)

i.Tissue roll (Small)

Pack all the toiletries in a water proof pouch. It is advised to use one with compartments so that you can further divide the toiletries into skin care, tooth care and others.

FILLING YOUR BACKPACK:

The lightest materials always go at the bottom of a backpack. The middle and front region is filled with medium weight materials while all the heavy things are filled in the middle and backward region touching with the frame of the backpack which comes in contact with your back. And the upper area is left for items which will be needed quite often.

Remember, a good and smart backpacker always travels light although he / she will have all the essential materials.

Happy packing!
